It’s become ridiculously apparent to me how many of the TVD fans have the stupidest double standards for characters they love vs. characters they don’t.

It’s a supernatural show about vampires. They have all killed people and done terrible things before. No, your favorite character is not perfect despite what you think. Yes, he/she has more than likely killed numerous people. Yes, it is okay for characters on the show to forgive him/her because IT IS A SUPERNATURAL SHOW ABOUT VAMPIRES. Their lives are already beyond the realm of normal morality, and some allowances will be made. Why do people not understand this?
No, I am not saying all morality should be thrown out the window…but look at the situation Elena and her friends have been put into. This is their life now. Vampires they call friends have all murdered people at one point or another. So, how about you guys stop bringing up the “OMG LOOK HOW MANY PPL HE’S KILLED AND WHAT HE’S DONE IN THE PAST” BS every time you want to make some terribly half-assed point about something. Because more than likely the exact same thing can be said about your favorite character, which makes your entire argument invalid. This applies to half the main characters on the show.
What is funny/ironic is that people only want to bring up this stuff when it has to do with their favorite ships vs ships they hate. Other than that, they’re all cool with characters like Katherine and Elijah (who are guilty of the same things).
It just gets old seeing it used as an argument repeatedly for various ships because it literally makes no sense at all when half the main characters on the show are guilty of doing terrible things at one point or another. Let’s not forget that even Caroline has killed someone. Mkay. Thanks.
